Matthieu Mantovani

After studying art in Paris, Matthieu started out as a photographers assistant, working with fashion photographer Paolo Roversi. Spending long hours on commercials sets persuaded him that his enthusiasm lay in directing. He formed directorial trio ZOO with Julien Rambaldi and David Fauche in 1998, and together they became one of the most sought after directorial teams in France. Matthieu began directing solo in 2004. His work has ranges from moved from geeky, edgy comedy to sophisticated special effects and
stunning contemporary photography. Recent credits include spots for VW, Smart, EDF, Molson & the French Highways Agency. His creative diversity was demonstrated by his short film “Broadway”, a collaboration with celebrated French composer Sebastien Tellier. This mix of live-action and comic book animation was awarded at film festivals worldwide and recently installed in New York’s Museum of Modern Art. In January 2011 Matthieu joined Bakery Films, and everybody still keeps asking whether he is Italian or French and how to pronounce his Christian name properly.
